Back in Control with Sheila Kaye Session 1 of 2
Back in Control: New Ways to think about Chronic Pain
This two session workshop presented by Sheila Kaye, MSW is based on information found in the book, BACK in Control by Dr. David Hanscom. He states: “The essence of the chronic pain problem is often that no one can find the source of your pain and no one believes you.” Through his own experience with chronic pain, Dr. Hanscom, an orthopedic surgeon, developed a self-directed approach to de-escalate pain, anxiety, resulting depression, isolation, and suffering. His experience led to an intense study of how our neurological system contributes to the physical pain of injury and suffering.
Join this intriguing discussion and learn the tools for relief from pain, anger and isolation. Paper and pens will be provided but if you have a favorite journal or notebook, bring it! This 2 session class will be led by Sheila Kaye, MSW; her empathy for others fuels her desire to share supportive, healing tools and compassion for those living with chronic pain. The Waynesville Library has a copy of Dr. Hanscom’s book if you would like to check it out prior to the workshop. Registration is required. 828-356-2507 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Refreshments generously provided by the Friends of the Library.
