Friends of the Library Annual Books Sale

The annual Haywood County Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held at the lower level of the Waynesville Library, 678 S. Haywood Street. Book Sale hours are: Thursday July 26, 9 AM – 7 PM; Friday July 27, 9 AM – 7 PM; and Saturday July 28, 9 AM-3 PM.

There are thousands of gently used and new books in all categories and for readers of all ages. Also included are DVDs, CDs, puzzles, and books on CD. This year we also have a great collection of vinyl! For a $5 fee, the book committee will look for an item for you. Prior to the sale, come to the circulation desk at the library and fill out a request form. The book sale committee members will do their best to find it for you.

All items are put out on the first day of the sale and prices begin at 50 cents! Volunteers are available every day of the sale to assist you with getting your purchases to your car. Volunteers are needed to help with the sale to assist with check out, loading purchases, and clean up at the end of the sale. If you are interested in volunteering, call Chairwoman Sandy Denman at 828-627-2370. If you are interested in purchasing items that are leftover at the end of the sale (at a greatly reduced price), contact Sandy!

Cash, credit cards, and personal checks are accepted for payment. Don’t forget to bring bags or boxes to carry your purchases and if you can, volunteer to help! For safety reasons, please do not bring large strollers. Service dogs are allowed but no pets please.

Come early and come often. Please note that parking is limited at the library but there is ample parking in the First Methodist Church lot across Boyd Avenue. We will accept donations against after October 1st. Please bring them to the front desk of the library. If you have a large amount of books or are physically unable to get books to the library, call 828-452-5169 to arrange for pickup.

The book sale committee consists of Sarah Sherman, Stan Smith, Jan and Ross Boyd, Bill Tennett, Dot Barnum, Ann LaForest, Martin Pensak, Kent Stewart, Pat Koontz, Deborah Henderson, Kitty Allen, Loy Lilly, Andy Bartilson and Terry Field and is chaired by Sandy Denman. Proceeds from the sale go to support the Haywood County libraries. The Friends of the Library book sale provides money for programs for all ages: summer reading programs for children and adults, lecture and discussion series for adults, new equipment, new books and other media, movies, concerts, plays, poetry readings and craft workshops.
