The Confident Caregiver Series-Part 3

The Alzheimer's Association is presenting this series for Caregivers of those with dementia.  You can sign up for one or for all three!

Part 1-  this session will cover the basic symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and other dementia's, along with the communication changes the person will experience. We will talk about relationship changes, both public and personal, and ways to cope. We will give practical tips and information on personal care such as bathing, toileting and dressing. And we will conclude with how to be prepared for possible hospital visits, and ways to be an advocate for your loved ones to ensure they get the best possible care.

Part 2 - this session will address ways to manage and cope with behavior changes and issues. We will discuss medication management, and ways to keep create a safe home environment, including addressing problems with wandering.  We will also talk about when it becomes necessary to discontinue driving and ways to make that conversation and transition easier, and we will conclude with a section on living alone with dementia.

Part 3 - In this session, we will address the array of care options to consider as the disease progresses, including adult day services and in-home care.  We'll talk about costs and tips to help you make the best decision for your loved one.  We will also address caregiver needs, and offer advice on how to talk care of yourself as you care for your loved one.
